This is an introductory lecture on the culture wars I wrote for an undergraduate class at a Canadian university loosely connecting Gramsci and Marxism to digital culture. It was posted during the 2020 Corona Virus shutdown of civilization. Unlike other professors who were fearful of their lectures slipping out of their academic bubbles into a critical and mocking world (see Tim Pool’s video), I thought it might be a useful walk on the wild side of the culture wars for those who see it as a dark and scary place.
